In fact, the different assistance projects which are carried out to help developing countries bring benefits more to the donor countries than to the receiving ones, triggering a process of economic development in the former. The “investments” of the various projects come back multiplied. FAO themselves, instead of using their resources on real projects helping to reduce world famine, waste away billion dollars to pay salaries, benefits, transfers and general expenses.While in underdeveloped countries million people die for famine, in the rich countries tons of food are destroyed because they aren’t considered marketable anymore. This is a huge waste of resources besides being a serious damage to the environment and an unsustainable system on the long term.}, number={s1}, journal={Italian Journal of Agronomy}, author={Segrè, Andrea}, year={2008}, month={Apr.}, pages={191–193} }
